On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Twinning between the towns of Montreuil-Juigné and Kamen, a cycle-pedestrian relay crossing France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany is organised in 2023, during the week of the Ascension. The race will start on Monday 15 May 2023, with the Franco-German runners starting from the Montreuil-Juigné town hall and taking the cycle route along the Mayenne river. After several 10 km relays, they will arrive in DOMFRONT. There will be many teams of runners who will do relays, the teams will be composed of 9 to 10 people. In DOMFRONT in the morning, a team of 10 Franco-German cyclists will take the road in a 100 km stage to GRANDVILLIERS. The runners will take up the torch, in the same number with stages every 10 km, until CHAULNES. Then in the morning, the cyclists will take over to Maastricht. The foot riders will cross the border and will be relayed once by the cyclists. Once they have arrived, they will spend a night a few kilometres from Kamen, on 17/05/2023, to arrive in the morning at the same time as the delegation and the Montreuillais who will be transported by bus. The whole city will be mobilised for this historic relay, associations, the cultural world, shopkeepers, entrepreneurs and private individuals. The event will be covered locally, regionally and at European level. At each stage, the host town will receive a gift basket containing local specialities.
